Peggy Fox Bailey, 93, formerly of Burnsville, passed away on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 in Lexington.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Lat and Ethel Penland Fox. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Sidney D. “Junior” Bailey, who passed away in 2013; a son, Rodney Eugene Bailey, who passed away in 2021; two sisters: Betty Lee Huskey and Mary Lou McCurry; and a nephew, Jeff Bailey.
Peggy received a degree in cosmetology from Mayland Community College and had worked alongside William Simmons at Haircutter & Co. since 1976 until her retirement in 2009. She also worked with Flowers By Vance for almost 15 years.
Peggy loved to travel and enjoy life to the fullest, and danced with the Yancey County Boot Scooters for over 20 years.
She served on the Board of Directors for the Yancey County Committee On Aging in Yancey County.
She will always be fondly remembered for her wardrobe of bright, dazzling colors and her infectious smile.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Brady Bailey and wife, Amy of Lexington; grandson, Aaron Bailey of Lexington; as well as several very special nieces, nephews and friends.
