Deborah Rose Thomas, age 66, of the Millers Gap community, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
A native of Avery County, she was a daughter of Gladys Jones Rose and the late Edward Rose. She was also preceded in death by son, Simon Keith Rose and nephew, Lewis Edward Rose, Jr.
Deborah was always putting others before herself. She was the foundation and the lifeline of the family. If anyone had an issue, they came to Deborah. She loved celebrating others birthdays and also loved planning parties. Not only did she love planning them, she was the life of all her parties with her sense of humor.
Deborah was always looking for a good bargain, but really loved her clothes, shoes, and jewelry the most.
She had a very strong faith in God and always wanted to share His word with others, especially in her Facebook posts. Even in her last days, her faith never wavered. She desired so much to get better and get back to church.
Surviving in addition to her mother, Gladys, is her husband of 28 years, Ray Thomas; brother, Lewis Rose (Sue Ann); sister, Deonne Silvers; a very special person, Molly Forbes; sisters-by-love: Bobbie Jo (Jerry) and Sue Ann Rose; and nieces and nephews: Brittany Rose, Sheena Willis (Steven), Alex Silvers, Savanna Willis, Simon Willis, and Abbie Laws.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Newland. Pastor Tony Clark and Rev. Brian Griffith will officiate.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Watauga Medical Center and Medi Home Hospice.
