Laura Ann Renfro, age 62, of Burnsville, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 18th, 2024 at Mission Hospital. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of Elsie Carroll Renfro and the late Kenneth Dean Renfro. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents: Effie and Adam Carroll, and Pearl and Johnny Renfro.
Laura enjoyed watching wrestling and scary movies, and listening to music by Elvis Presley. She loved children and loved spending time with them. They gave her inspiration with their innocence and the love she received from them. She collected stuff animals, but one was particularly special to her – Rufus, her stuffed monkey. Laura touched everyone’s life in a very special way and will truly be missed.
Left to cherish her memory in addition to her mother are her siblings: Kenny Renfro (Wanda) of Hardscrabble, Karen Renfro (Junior Byrd) of Micaville, Tim Renfro (Joan) of Micaville, Mark Renfro (Trish) of Roan Mountain, TN, and Doyle Renfro (Melinda) of Micaville; uncles and aunts: Leroy Carroll (Venita) of Forest City, Keith Renfro (Janet) of Burnsville, Frances Boyd of Crabtree, and Estelle Westall of Newport News, VA; and nieces and nephews: Kacie Renfro, Kayla Renfro, Nathan Renfro, Ashley Deyton, Adam Renfro, Mistie Renfro, Julia Renfro (Stephen McDowell), Emily Bradford (Kevin) and Rachel Higgins (Tyler). She is survived as well by several great-nieces and great-nephews and other extended family.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, October 21st at the Wilson-Rector Hill Cemetery on Double Island. Pastor Chris Morgan will officiate.
