Martha Lyda Tipton, age 91 of Burnsville, North Carolina passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024.
Martha was born in Yancey County on April 4, 1933, and was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Birdie Bradford Willis; sisters: Reba Ward, Minnie Jane Wilson, Linda Miller and Mildred Renfro; brother, Johnny Willis; and daughter-in-law, Virginia Tipton.
Martha worked and retired from Baxter International in Marion, North Carolina where she attended church regularly and loved playing the piano. After retiring, Martha moved back to Yancey County to reside in the Blue Rock Community and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and her continued love of music.
She is survived by her children; Donald Tipton of Burnsville, North Carolina, Lois Tipton of Wilmington, North Carolina and Marvin Tipton and wife Tanya of Burnsville, North Carolina; sister, Dessie Wilson and brother Ronnie Willis; three grandchildren: Logan and wife, Kayla, Kelsey, and Connor; six great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home in Burnsville, NC. The family will be receiving friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be held the following day at 12:00 p.m. in the Howell Cemetery in Burnsville, NC.
