Cora Alice Daniels of Newland, NC passed away on Tuesday October 29th, at home and surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of the late Andrew Lewis and Polly Mae Townsend of Foscoe, NC. She was also preceded in death by 5 sisters and 3 brothers.
She was a member of the Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Foscoe, NC. She loved flowers and plants, and she loved gardening and canning. She was well known for her wonderful housekeeping and cooking. She was retired from Baxter Healthcare.
She is survived by her sisters Viola Daniels, Daisey Johnson and Lucy Hayes; Her children, Carolyn Ashby (Frank) of Chesnee, SC, Judy Roberts (Clarence) of Newland, NC, Martha Elkins (Jim) of Marion, NC, Barbara Buchanan (Galen) of Spruce Pine, NC and Benny Vance (Melissa) of Newland, NC. She had 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her best friend Kathleen Hughes.
Funeral services for Cora Alice Daniels will be at 11:00 am Saturday November 2, 2024, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Spruce Pine with the Rev. Ronnie Trivette officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Holy Communion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Her family wishes to thank Meals on Wheels, The Avery Senior Center and Medi Home Hospice, Avery EMS, Linville Central Rescue, Crossnore Volunteer Fire Department, The Daniel Boone Bear Club, Toe River Fishing Club, Earl Trice and her wonderful neighbor Minnie Johnson, for all the care and love they gave to us and to her.
