High-Speed Chase Ends in Yancey County; Suspect Arrested

On October 28th, a high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle from Virginia began and concluded in Yancey County. The pursuit ended when the stolen vehicle collided head-on with a Yancey County patrol vehicle near Mountain Heritage High School. Following the accident, traffic was temporarily disrupted to facilitate an investigation into the incident. The highway was fully reopened and returned to normal traffic flow after approximately four hours.

Jason Collin Hatcher, 43, of Bristol, Virginia, was arrested and charged with Felony Fleeing/Eluding Arrest with a Motor Vehicle, Felony Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Reckless Driving to Endanger, and Assault on a Government Official/Employee. Hatcher is currently in custody with a bond set at $50,000.
