“Well done, good and faithful servant”… Matthew 25:21
Robert Mark Summers, 69, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend has left us for his next journey. He fought a heroic battle with prostate cancer to die peacefully while sleeping. His exit was as smooth as his golf swing and on November 4, 2024, he hit the last hole in one.
A lifelong resident of Raleigh, North Carolina, Robert was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. After retirement in 2017, he moved with his wife to Spruce Pine to live in the house they spent 12 years building by hand.
Robert is survived by his loving family: his wife Lynn Lawrence-Summers, daughter Dana Brown (Thomas), and two grandchildren, Marcus Brown and Olivia Brown.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 16th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at his home. We encourage anyone whose life he touched with his unending optimism and sense of humor to join us.
Please make memorials to prostate cancer research at cure.pcf.org/donation, the American Red Cross at redcross.org/donations, or the Cajun Navy at cajunnavyrelief.com, who helped us immensely during this time of crisis.
