Shirley Buchanan Hoilman, age 85, of Spruce Pine, went Home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 14th, 2024. A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Farrell and Viola Young Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Joe Hoilman; sister, Grace Dellinger; and a brother, Harry Buchanan.
Shirley was an active member of Pine Branch Baptist Church for many years where she taught Sunday school, a member of the choir, and cooked countless meals for church functions. She was always ready to serve in any capacity that she could. She worked at Riddle’s Jewelers until the business closed, then worked at Simply Stated on Lower Street in Spruce Pine.
Left to survive her memory are special nieces, Dawn Hughes Anderson and husband, Patrick, of Toccoa, Georgia, and Glenda Robinson Wilson of Busick; and a special nephew, Daryl Dellinger and wife, Debra, of Lake Orion, Michigan.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27th at Pine Branch Baptist Church. Pastor Bruce Cannon and Rev. Steve Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
