Wilma Woody Angel, age 97 of Burnsville, went Home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Yancey House in Burnsville, NC.
A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Edd and Maude Honeycutt Woody. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Hampton, and Edgar Angel. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Donald Woody and Dennis Woody; and sisters: Violet Harding and Dottie Fields.
Wilma was a long-time member of West Burnsville Baptist Church. She lived a Christian life and had a strong faith in God. She loved to read her bible daily. She retired from Glen Raven, where she worked for many years. She enjoyed traveling with family, gardening, and tending to flowers. Wilma loved nature and the wonderful mountains of WNC.
Surviving is a stepson: Steve Angel and wife, Charlene, of Gastonia, NC; step grandson: Griffen Angel of Rock Hill, SC; sisters: Juanita Letterman and Billie June Dale of Burnsville; brother, Paul Woody, and wife, Nancy of Burnsville, and many nieces and nephews and extended family. Wilma was devoted to her family and was always excited about sharing a meal with loved ones.
The family would like to thank the Memory Care Unit at Yancey House for caring for Wilma, along with Hospice and Compassionate Care WNC.
The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends and loved ones thirty minutes prior to the service. Pastor Chris Fox will be officiating. A private family burial will be held in the Woody Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Gideons International at P.O. Box 206, Burnsville, NC 28714.
