Local Radio Stations Owner Passes

Mark Media Radio Stations’ Chief Operating Officer,  Remelle Koonts Sink passed  away  Friday, December 13th, 2024.   J. Ardell and Remelle  Sink owned and operated numerous radio stations across the Carolinas working side by side.  Their dedication and service were recognized with several broadcast awards, including the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters’ Community Service Award.  After Mr. Sink’s passing in 2021, Remelle became CEO of WKYK and WTOE and remained active at the radio stations until her passing. Her work ethic and commitment were unmatched, and she remained dedicated to the success of the company and the people who depended on her leadership.

Remelle is survived by her three children: Marsa Jarrett (Garry) of Simpsonville, SC; Michael Sink (Tina) of Burnsville; and Holly Hall (Steve) of Burnsville. She was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren: Corey Cianfarano (David), Clint Jarrett (Katie), Jacob Jarrett (Christina), Jeremy Sink (Donna), Jessica Sink Roland, Tressa Hennessee (Shannon), and Chris Hall (Misty). She also leaves behind 18 cherished great-grandchildren: Clara, Ava, Maxwell, Adalyn, Jenaca, Grayson, Carson, Lily, David, Myles, Mia, Victoria, Katie, Emma, Olivia, Isabel, Keaton, and Kason; as well as two brothers: Wayne Koonts (Anna) of Pawley’s Island, SC, and Wes Koonts (Teresa) of Greensboro.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024 in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
