Charles “Eddie” Grindstaff, age 76, of the Green Mountain Community, passed away on Sunday, December 15th, 2024, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital after many years of declining health.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles “Ed” Grindstaff, as well as his brother, Robert Grindstaff; sister, Nancy Grindstaff; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Betty Tipton; sister-in-law, Carolyn Wilson; and brother-in-law, Jim Tipton.
Eddie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Upon returning home, he moved to Charlotte and became a car salesman. On his return trips back home in Yancey County, he loved spending time hanging out with his friends who introduced him to Linda who later became his wife. They started their own family of two daughters, who made him a grandfather to five, and he loved and cherished each one with all his heart.
Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years who stood beside him, taking care of him until the end, Linda Tipton Grindstaff; two daughters, Brandi Silver (Tracy) of Pensacola, and Kelly Loven (Jeff) of Marshall; five grandchildren: Bently Silver, Baylor Silver, Baylea Lackey (Matt), Rachael Hunt (Caleb), and Jace Loven; sister-in-law, Wanda Fox (Ronnie) of Burnsville; and a good friend who was like a brother to him, Gary Gibbs of Burnsville.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
