Gene Howell, age 85, of Roan Mountain, TN, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024 at his home.
Born on May 27, 1939 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Graham and Eula Robertson Howell.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step father; George Thomas, his sisters; Eula Howell and Vaughtie Bennett; and his brothers; Clyde Robertson, Richard, Luther, Max and Brown Howell.
Gene was a lifelong carpenter and enjoyed working. He loved spending time with his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and camping.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Becky Taylor of the home; his son; Randy Howell and wife, Karen of Roan Mountain, TN; his grandchildren; Jessica Jordan and husband, Justin, Hailey Gibbs and husband, Jonathan and Ethan Howell; his great grandchildren; Tyler, Elijah, Charlee and Abby; his special friends; Johnny Ledford and Grady Johnson; and many special nieces and nephews.
A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Morgan Branch Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral service will be on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Morgan Branch Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Hodges officiating. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 17, 2024 at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a ‘Special Thank You’ to the nurses and staff of; Caris Healthcare for their care of Gene during his illness.
