Barbara Ann Greene age 75 of Plumtree passed away Sunday December 29, 2024, at her residence. Born in Avery County, she was a daughter of the late C.L. and Alberta Clark Burleson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Floyd and C.L. Jr. Burleson and a sister Janet Cabrera.
Barbara retired from Baxter’s Healthcare and was a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church in Roan Mountain, TN. She was very active in her church helping with bible school and other functions. She dedicated her life to God and to caring for others she took care of everyone. Barbara also enjoyed canning, making the best seedless black raspberry jelly around and loved going to the beach with her family.
Left to cherish her memories is her husband of fifty nine years Harold Greene of the home, daughters, Shelia Moody (Jay) of Vilas, NC, Jackie Nelson (Mike) Newland, Christina Bowers (J.D.) of Dandridge, TN, Michelle Greene of Ashburn, VA and Barbara Sue Tenge (Tom) of Roan Mountain, TN, her grandsons, Richard, Matthew, Bryan, Jonah, Joshua and Jackson granddaughters, Kayla, Hannah, Jillian and Mallory, great grandson, Trevor, great granddaughters, Shylah, Willow and Edie, great great granddaughter Hazel Mae and three nieces that she loved and raised as her own, Imelda, Emily and Lila.
Funeral services for Mrs. Greene will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday January 1, 2024, at the Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church in Roan Mountain with the Rev. John McCoury officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Big Meadows Baptist Church cemetery.
The family would like to send out a special “Thank You” to Tootsie, Norma Jean, Sharon, Wilma, Wanda, Sandra and Alan and to the staff of Amorem Hospice and Compassionate Hearts.
