Charlie Cooper, age 79, of Cane Creek Road in Bakersville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at his home.
Born on August 2, 1945 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Merrell Harrell and the late Nola Garland Bryant.
Charlie loved to hunt and fish, hunting ginseng, working in his garden, cutting wood, logging, playing his harmonica, and he always had a joke to tell. He also loved being outside or in the mountains and camping. He enjoyed sitting with his friends and telling stories.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughter; Kristal Riddle; his grandson; Kyle Hyder, daughter-in-law; Makayla Hyder, great grandson; Atlas Hyder; brother, sisters, nieces and nephews from Bakersville and Hickory.
A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Little Rock Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Little Rock Creek Baptist Church with Rev. John McKinney officiating. Interment will be in the L.G. Gouge Memorial Cemetery.
