Norma Faye Cassida Thomas

Norma Faye Cassida Thomas, age 78, of the Double Island community passed away on January 2nd, 2025 at her home surrounded by family and friends.

She was the wife of the late Wayne Thomas, also proceeded in death by her son Daryl Thomas and her parents Charlie and Elsie Buchanan Cassida.

Norma Graduated from East Yancey High School. She retired from Hickory Springs Manufacturing after more than 20 years of service.

Surviving is her daughter, Lisa Dean; grandson, Cody Thomas (Kelci) granddaughters: Kimberly Gragg (Gracen) Katlyn Silvers; 4 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, May Beleen Barnett; daughter-in-law, Nicole Robinson; brothers: David Cassida (Linda) of Valdese, Donald Cassida (Elizabeth) of Double Island and Charles Cassida (Beverly) of Pleasant Gap; sister, Linda Stone (Johnny) of Georgia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, January 6th, 2025 in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Pastor Doug Willis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Double Island cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Ricky Cox, Matthew Phillips, Dakota Carpenter, Gracen Gragg, Adam Carpenter and Bobby Thomas. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice of the Blue Ridge and also a thank you to Mae Silvers, Mary Lee Robinson, Keisha Hansen, Kate Newberry and P.J. Philips for their exceptional care of Faye.
