It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Christa Elisabeth Owens, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on 5 January 2025, the 12th Day of Christmas and Epiphany Eve. Her last days were comfortable and serene. Christa was born in 1941 in Frankfurt, Germany, a city that fostered her early love for adventure and resilience. Her life’s journey took her across many countries and continents, but she carried with her the spirit of discovery and kindness wherever she went.
Christa’s life was defined by her boundless passion for animals and the natural world. Her love for dogs and horses was unmatched, and she devoted much of her time to their care, custodianship, and companionship. From long walks with her beloved dogs to riding horses with grace and joy, Christa’s connection to animals was a source of inspiration to all who knew her.
A true adventurer at heart, Christa’s life was filled with travels and exploration. She embraced the unknown with courage and curiosity, leaving behind a legacy of stories that her family and friends will cherish forever. Her adventurous spirit taught us the importance of living fully and appreciating the beauty of the world around us.
Christa’s wisdom, character, and warm heart touched the lives of many. She loved classical music, which always brought her great joy and serenity. She was also a very classy, beautiful, and fashionable lady. Her unwavering strength and love for her family were the anchors that kept us steady through life’s storms. She was truly a force to be reckoned with.
She is survived by her husband Daniel Owens, her daughters Marcia Owens and Maxine Runion, her son Mark Owens (wife Angela), her granddaughters Haley and Courtney, and her grandson Daniel Daith Owens, who will continue to honor her memory and celebrate the incredible life she led.
A celebration of Christa’s life will be held in the very near future, where friends and family will be invited to gather, share memories, and honor the remarkable woman she was. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Burnsville or Spruce Pine animal shelter in order to respect her great love of animals and the wonderful impact they have on our lives.
Christa Elisabeth Owens was a beacon of strength and love, and her presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May her adventurous spirit, strength in the face of adversity, and loving heart continue to inspire us all.
