Sayre “Scotty” Moore

Sayre Scott Moore, age 93 of Burnsville, passed away peacefully at his home in the evening hours of Monday, December 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 18, 1931, he was the son of the late William Sayre Moore and Edith McIntosh Moore. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his only child, Michael Moore.

Scotty was a well-known appliance repairman who served the town of Burnsville for 72 years and spent most of his time at his favorite diner, Lil’ Smokies.

Scotty was an army veteran and corpsman engineer. He spent his service years in Germany during the Korean War. Scotty was married to his loving wife, Helene, for 78 wonderful years. They were two halves of a whole person. After Scotty passed, Helene couldn’t live without him and went on to pass just one week after Scotty. They are reunited now in Heaven, walking hand in hand, like they were always meant to be. They are a true testament of never-ending love.

Left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Justin Moore and Paige Coker, and her husband, Ryan; two great-grandchildren: Liam and Raiden; a sister, “Lib” Sheets; and many family and friends in Wilmington, NC.

No services are planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Sacred Heart:  Women’s Guild in care of Lorraine Whitson @ 20 Summit Street, Burnsville, North Carolina 28714

Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home is respectfully serving the Moore Family.
