Sarah “Sis” Biddix Earley age 93 of Spruce Pine passed away Wednesday January 8, 2025, at the Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville.
Born January 15, 1931, in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Sr. and Rebecca Hennessee Biddix. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence “Curly” Earley and a brother Fred Biddix, Jr.
Sis was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spruce Pine. She loved knitting, reading, working puzzles and a good game of bridge. She was a Co-owner of Spruce Pine Lumber Company where she worked many years and upon her retirement she moved to Surfside Beach, SC where she worked an additional fifteen years at the reservation desk of Ocean Lakes Campground.
Left to cherish her memories is her daughter Becky Gouge and husband Frankie of Butler, TN, a son Lee Earley and wife Brenda of Spruce Pine, grandchildren Wendy Reams and husband Daniel, Quincy Childers, Lydia Anderson and husband Josh, and Danny Earley and her great-grandchildren Alexis, Kyla, Grayson, Ryker and Bryson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Earley will be held at 11:00 am Friday January 10, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church of Spruce Pine with the Rev. Michael Poulos officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
