Rev. Dallas Renfro, “Uncle Dal”, age 94, of Rabbit Hop, went Home to be with his Lord Jesus on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. He was a son of the late Charlie and Delphia Davis Renfro. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Beatrice “Aunt Bea” Hall Renfro, as well as an infant sister, Leona Renfro; a brother, Dewey Renfro; son-in-law, Roy Dulaney; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Dallas enjoyed hunting, fishing, and digging ginseng, as well as gardening and fixing things. He was referred to as “Uncle Dal” by everyone, and was a wonderful storyteller. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Dallas was called to minister and teach God’s word to others in 1966, and was ordained as a minister that year as well. He served as a minister to Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church, Fork Mountain Baptist Church, and Little Rock Creek Baptist Church, and was honored as Pastor Emeritus of Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his only daughter, Beverly Renfro Dulaney of Burnsville; brother, Charles Renfro and wife, Louise, of Spruce Pine; brother-in-law, Charles Allen of Crabtree; sister-in-law, Janet Renfro of Pennsylvania; and two nephews and a niece: Gene Allen, Michael Reeves and Wendy Allen, whom he thought of as his children. He is survived as well by as a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and his church family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14th, at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Jason Kritz and Rev. Daniel Whetstine will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V. Burial will follow at Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Elijah Allen, Mitchell Allen, Gene Allen, Jon Allen, Teddy Buchanan and Michael Reeves. Pastors and preachers will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the services at Shoal Creek Baptist Church.
