Partners Aligned Toward Health (PATH) and the Mitchell Yancey Prevention and Recovery Coalition (MYPRC) are proud to announce the release of the Spanish-language version of the updated Mental Health and Substance Use Resource Guide. This essential tool is now available for download on PATH’s website, providing equitable access to critical resources for the Hispanic/Latino community in Yancey and Mitchell Counties.
Since 2018, the Mental Health and Substance Use Resource Guide has been a cornerstone for connecting residents and professionals with local support services. Updated every two years, it offers a comprehensive directory of resources, including clinical and faith-based programs, peer support groups, reentry programs, therapists, and more. For the first time, the entire guide has been fully translated into Spanish. Previous versions included a bilingual section, but this full translation ensures that all community members can easily navigate the resources available to them. The development of the Spanish-language guide was driven by the Community Ambassador Real Equality (CARE) Team, a group of bilingual and bicultural ambassadors dedicated to improving mental health and wellness for the Hispanic/Latino community in Mitchell and Yancey Counties.
Throughout the challenges of COVID-19, Hurricane Helene, and beyond, the CARE Team has worked tirelessly to connect families with vital resources through culturally responsive approaches. Their efforts to bridge gaps in communication and access have been instrumental in creating a more inclusive support network.
The guide includes resources located within Yancey and Mitchell Counties, as well as regional and national options for services not available locally. Both the English and Spanish versions are available on PATH’s website, www.pathwnc.org, or go directly to bit.ly/MHSUGuide.
Partners Aligned Toward Health and the Mitchell Yancey Prevention and Recovery Coalition continue to work hard on prevention, education, and advocacy around substance use issues in our community. If you have suggestions about ways to improve efforts to serve our community or would like to submit a resource for inclusion in the next guide, please contact info@pathwnc.org or (828) 682-7899.
