Mildred Mae Tomlinson, age 91, of Bakersville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12th, 2025 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital.
A native of Baltimore, MD, she was the “the baby girl of the family” to the late Charles and Dora Sheiler Nash. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Clarence, Leon, Hershel and Lawrence Nash.
Mildred was a faithful member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed working word search puzzles, playing cards, being a house wife, quilting, watching TV and loved baking bread especially on holidays.
Surviving is her son, Skip Weiford and wife, Donna; granddaughters: Tina Masters (David) and Jessica Phillips (Robert “Bear”) all of Bakersville; great-grandchildren: Olivia, Paige and Tyler and one sister, Mattie Deckert of Maryland. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 20th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Rev. Doug Honeycutt, Rev. Mike Peterson and Rev. GB Garland will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Private family burial will be in the Hoilman Cemetery.
