Joyce Minton Proftitt, age 88, of Sunshine School Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on June 4, 1936 in Watauga County, she was the daughter of the late Claude W. Minton, Sr. and the late Blanche Hayes Minton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Proffitt who passed away in 2017. Also preceding her in death was her brother, Claude W. Minton, Jr. and her sisters; Loyce Edmiston and Gail Elliott.
Joyce had been a member of Central Baptist Church in Spruce Pine where she served as Sunday School Director, taught Bible School and was very active in Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU). She loved Jesus and lived her life for him.
She loved being a homemaker and taking care of her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. She also enjoyed watching and identifying birds.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter; Lynne Deyton and husband, Mike of Burnsville, her sons; Jeff Proffitt of Spruce Pine and Jon Proffitt of Linville Falls.
A service will be planned for a later date.
