Malinda “Quinn” Achard

Malinda “Quinn” Achard, 51, of Marshall, North Carolina, passed away on January 26th , 2025, in Flagler Beach, Florida, surrounded by the love of her parents and dear friends of many years, Rowan Lischerelli and Andrea Caldiero.

Born on May 9, 1973, in Canton, Ohio, Malinda was the cherished daughter of Kenneth and Mary Achard. She spent her formative years in Midland, Michigan, where she graduated from Midland High School before embarking on a path of academic excellence and compassionate care.

Malinda began her pre-medical training at Albion College in Michigan, later earning her Bachelor of Science with honors from Long Island University in Brooklyn. She became a certified Physician Assistant through the Brooklyn Hospital Center and its affiliate hospitals, including Beth Israel Medical Center and Montefiore Medical Center. While navigating the vibrant energy of the city, Malinda found beauty and solace in nature, often marveling at the resilience of plants breaking through the cracks of concrete and admiring the spirit of renegade gardens thriving in unexpected places.

A deeply gifted Integrative Medicine practitioner, Malinda “Quinn” served as a P.A. at Mountain Medical Arts in Burnsville, NC for many years before she then owned and operated Vital Roots Natural Medicine in Asheville, North Carolina, where she was adored by her patients and respected as a pillar of her community. She was known for her profound connection to nature, science, and her unwavering dedication to the well-being of others.

Malinda “Quinn” “Boom-Boom’s” passions reflected her love for the earth. She found joy in traveling, hiking to remote waterfalls, studying the beauty of rocks and plants, drumming and singing, basking in the sunlight and moonlight, and reflecting by the ocean. She embraced homesteading, herbal medicine, canning, and gardening, always living in harmony with the land she treasured. She was a teacher of the ancient arts of healing and loved to honor the cycles and seasons of the earth by gathering with her community. Her heart for service shone brightly when she volunteered with Beacon of Hope in the aftermath of the flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. For over three months, she coordinated a medical care tent, offering critical assistance and care to her community in Western North Carolina.

Malinda is survived by her loving parents, Kenneth and Mary Achard of Roscommon, Michigan, and her beloved German Shepherd, Honey, who brought her great joy, protection, and companionship. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, as well as her two brothers, Kenneth and Franz, whom she held close in her heart.

Malinda “Quinn’s” legacy of kindness, healing, and her deep connection to the natural world will continue to inspire all who knew her. Contributions in her memory can be made to Beacon of Hope by visiting https://bohmarshall.org/take-action.
