Yancey DSS has received recent reports of SNAP (“food stamps”) benefits being stolen from EBT cards through scamming or hacking. There are steps you can take to safeguard your benefits:

check your card balance regularly

change your PIN# often

ensure that the card reading machines you use are secure

freeze your benefits, if needed (e.g. card is lost/stolen)

manage out-of-state and internet transactions.
You can manage your benefits through your EBT EDGE account (www.ebtedge.com) or the EBT EDGE Mobile App (from Google Play or Apple Store). You can also check your balance or request a replacement card, if yours is lost or stolen, by calling the North Carolina EBT Call Center at 1-888-622-7328.
