Ruby Maglee Fox went peacefully to be with the Lord on January 28, 2025. She was 89 years old. A lifelong member of the Jacks Creek Community of Yancey County, she was loved by all who knew her.
Ruby had a heart for others, being a nurturing caregiver to countless people throughout her life, from her own sisters and father to her husband, children, grandchildren and many more. She was a clever and resourceful homemaker who loved to cook, sew, quilt and garden. She could make anything grow and took great pleasure in her flowers and plants. Yet nothing filled her heart with joy and made her smile as much as playing and spending time with the children in her life.
Waiting for Ruby on the other side was her supportive husband of 73 years, Carl Pearmont Fox and her parents, Vance Silvers and Bessie Arrington.
She will be greatly missed by those left to cherish her memory; three sisters: Esther Pollock, Fern Stone, Vaughtie McIntosh (Eugene) and a brother, Johnny Clark; five children: Harley Fox (Peggy), Sue Silvers (Gary), Brenda Wilson (Wendell), Michelle Upton (Jim) and Stephen Fox; thirteen grandchildren: Greg Fox (Teresa), Wendy Gortney (Jonathan), Jason Silvers, Kelly Jo Ray (Garrett), Jennings Wilson (Casey), Kevin Wilson (Haley), Summer Mitchell (Adam), Darby Robinson (Levi), Kelby Upton, Dawson Fox (Julianna), Riley Fox, Enoch Fox, and Lydia Fox; thirteen great-grandchildren: Sarah Fox Crouse and Nic Fox, Eli and Jaxon Gortney, Lexi Silvers, Hayden, Sawyer and Asher Wilson, Tilman and August Mitchell, Ruby and Lottie Robinson, and Ellis Fox; along with beloved extended family, in-laws, neighbors and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation for one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Royce Ball will be officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Cemetery at Jacks Creek Baptist Church in Burnsville, NC.
As much as Ruby loved flowers, she loved people even more. The family asks that in lieu of flowers you might consider giving a donation to the Hospice of Blue Ridge in Ruby’s honor at They have been an incredibly considerate and much appreciated support in her care and comfort.
Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home is respectfully serving the Fox family.
