The Yancey County Board of Commissioners along with the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina have announced a new business coming to Yancey County. Paradigm Energy and Storage has plans to build their headquarters facility on an 87 acre parcel just west of Burnsville. Chris McKendry, the company owner said Paradigm Energy is an innovative producer of energy solutions. The company will create 150 jobs and will invest $175 million in their Burnsville headquarters.
Yancey County Commissioner chair Jeff Whitson said within the first 2 years, they have to create 100 new jobs and the 50 to follow within the next two years. Most of the jobs will be local, good paying jobs, with an annual salary around $55,000.
McKendry said it’s the work ethic and friendliness of the people that attracted him to this area. The facility will be air and water green friendly. Plans are to begin construction this year.
