Ruth Pyatte Buchanan, age 92, of Milton Buchanan Lane in Newland, the Spear community, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the Green’s of Spruce Pine.
Born on November 8, 1932 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Handy Jordan Pyatte and the late Jenny Mace Pyatte. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Milton James Buchanan who passed away in 1993. Also preceding her in death were her brothers; Carl, Arnold, Stokes, Amos, James, Alvin, Raymond, Frank, and Ray Pyatte, and her sisters; Sylvia Pyatte Stamey, May Pyatte and Florence Pyatte Franklin, her son; Daniel Buchanan, her daughters-in-law; Felece Buchanan and Ester Buchanan.
Ruth was a member of the Henson Creek Baptist Church and had been employed by Hampshire Hosiery. She loved the Lord, spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers.
Left to cherish her memories are her children; Allen Buchanan and wife, Connie, Anita McClellan and husband, Gene, and Lella Watson and husband, Michael, her grandchildren; Melissa Stamey and husband, Tony, Cade Buchanan and wife, Amy, Danielle Henson and husband, David, Craig Buchanan, Wendy Hughes and husband, David, Daniel ‘Boog’ Buchanan, Brandy Buchanan, Sabrina Ballad and husband, Charles, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
A time to share memories, support the family and receive friends will be on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Henson Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Henson Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Kegan Hoilman and Dustin Dellinger officiating. Interment will be in the Yellow Mountain Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a ‘Special Thank You’ to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for their wonderful care of Ruth during her illness.
