Update on McDowell County courthouse bomb threat
Law enforcement and emergency services have cleared the McDowell County Courthouse and no threat has been found. The courthouse is back open to the public. Main Street, along with Henderson, Court and South Garden streets are also now open.

Bomb Squad units and K9 teams are now on the scene and methodically securing the McDowell County Courthouse.

Law enforcement and emergency services are actively investigating a bomb threat at the McDowell County Courthouse in the downtown area. As a precaution, evacuations have been implemented, and authorities are working to secure the scene. For your safety, please avoid the downtown area until further notice.
