Burnsville, NC – Now more than ever your mental health matters. If you’re struggling with the emotional impact of Hurricane Helene—or the struggles of day-to-day life—there are resources in the area to support you. Partners Aligned Toward Health (PATH) and the Mitchell Yancey Prevention and Recovery Coalition (MYPRC) are proud to announce that the updated Mental Health and Substance Use Resource guide has now been translated into Spanish.
Since 2018, the Mental Health and Substance Use Resource Guide has provided information about local resources and support. The guide, which is updated every two years as resources change, offers information on a variety of options including clinical and faith-based programs, peer support groups, reentry programs, therapists, and much more.
While previous versions of the guide featured a bilingual section with resources and providers tailored to support Spanish speakers, PATH and MYPRC wanted to make the guide even more accessible to local Hispanic/Latino communitiy. They worked with a local translator to convert the entire guide into Spanish.
This update is guided by the work of the Community Ambassador Real Equality’s (CARE Team) bilingual/bicultural ambassadors who focus on promoting mental health and wellness in the local Latino/Hispanic community. Through COVID, Helene, and beyond, the CARE Team has worked to share important local resources and information with their community through culturally responsive and collaborative approaches.
The guide focuses on mental health and substance use resources located within Mitchell and Yancey Counties, as well as national and regional resources for services that are not available locally. You can download both the English and Spanish versions of the Mental Health and Substance Use Resource Guide online at bit.ly/MHSUGuide.
The Mental Health and Substance Use Resource Guide seeks to connect local agencies, service providers, businesses, and community members with the many helpful services and resources this community has to offer.
Partners Aligned Toward Health and the Mitchell Yancey Prevention and Recovery Coalition continue to work hard on prevention, education, and advocacy around substance use issues in our community. If you have suggestions about ways to improve efforts to serve our community or would like to submit a resource for inclusion in the next guide, please contact info@pathwnc.org or (828) 682-7899.
