A three car crash along U.S. 25/70, near Hot Springs in Madison County has left one person dead and several others injured. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol the wreck happened around 9:18 am this morning when a 2024 Ram truck crossed the center line and hit a Jeep Wrangler head-on, causing the Jeep to leave the road and overturn. The Ram then continued and crashed into a Toyota 4Runner head-on. The driver of the Ram truck, 51-year-old Phillip Gardner of Marshall, died from his injuries. The driver of the Jeep was flown to Mission Hospital, and the passenger was flown to Johnson City for treatment. The occupants of the 4Runner were treated at the scene and released.
