J.D. Street, age 72, of Buladean, went Home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late J. Dont and Buena Vista Hill Street. He was also preceded in death by his four brothers: Joe, Bruce, Will and Ted Street.
J.D. grew up working on a dairy farm and was also a Christmas tree farmer. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and as a National Guard for the U.S. Army. He returned home and worked for a number of years for the sheriff’s department. He loved guns and enjoyed going to the lake on his boat. He was also a truck driver for many years and got to spend time traveling the U.S., covering 48 of the 50 states. He went on to work at Feldspar for 22 years. He will always be remembered as a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. More than anything, he loved being around family.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Gail Moffitt Street; two children: Jennifer Street (Keith McKinney) and Jason Street (Nikki); five grandchildren: Kayla, Jacob, Carley, Jada and Justin; his canine companion, Bella, who was his baby; and two sisters: June Clem (Joe) and Jean Hobson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
