Dixie Renfro, age 84, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at Smoky Ridge Health and Rehabilitation.
A native of Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Dollie Hoilman Blevins. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of more than 30 years, George Garland; her second husband of 22 years, Paul Renfro; a son, Mike Garland; two infant grandchildren: Timber Ridge Bailey and Raylon Dean Cash Sparks; and two sisters: Laura Belle Garland and Shirley Riddle.
Dixie’s faith was very important to her and she loved going to church. She was a devout member of Beans Creek Freewill Baptist Church. She always enjoyed traveling with her husband, Paul, and being outdoors, working in her garden and her beautiful flowers. She took pride in her home and enjoyed keeping it clean for family and friends that she loved inviting over for meals and visits with her. More importantly, she loved her family with all her heart and held each and every one of them close to her and kept them in her prayers. She was a kind, generous and loving lady who will be dearly missed by so many who loved her.
She is survived by her two daughters: Marilyn Garland of Bakersville and Christine Hobson of Spruce Pine; three sons: Richard Garland and wife, Diane; Danny Garland and wife, Janet; and Scott Garland and wife, Denise, all of Bakersville; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bruce Blevins of Bakersville.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 7th at Beans Creek Church of Jesus Christ. Reverends G.B. Garland, David Byrd and Todd Ayers will officiate. Burial will follow in the Beans Creek Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Butler, Logan Garland, Justin Garland, Richie Garland, Jason Robertson, Nick Halasan, George Garland and Adam Garland.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
