Jeanette Cook Deyton

Jeannette Cook Deyton, age 63, of Green Mountain, went Home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Mission Hospital. A native of Graham County, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Edith Grant Cook. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Donald Deyton, who passed away in 2019.

Jeannette was a member of Covy Rock Free Will Baptist Church. She was a substitute teacher and bus driver for many years with the Yancey County school system. She enjoyed Rook tournaments with her dear friend Sharon Deyton, loved spending time with her cats: Little Man, Boots and Jacob Star, and also spending time with her beloved nieces and nephews.

Surviving is her son: Bryan Phillip Deyton (Margaret Brown) of Marion; daughter: Caitlin Faith Deyton (Adam White) of Fairview; sister: Sherry Cottingham of Roanoke VA; brothers: Stewart, Philip and Grant Clements; sisters-in-law: Lisa McCourry (Ricky) of Green Mountain: Angie Vance (Linc) of Burnsville; nieces and nephews: Anthony and Brandon McCourry, Lexi and Aidan Vance, and Kayla and Kristin Aliff.  Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

A service to celebrate Jeannette’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Pastor Marvin Hensley will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Cecil Deyton Family Cemetery on Charlie Deyton Road in Green Mountain, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Feed-A-Child Yancey at 151 Laurel Heights Drive, Burnsville, NC 28714.
