Georgia Lay Henry

Georgia Lay Henry, age 88, of Jonas Ridge, went Home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, at her home.

A native of Blakely, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late George and Florine Herring Murray.  She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Lay, her second husband, Neil Henry and a brother, James Murray.

Georgia was an administrator with the Veterans Service office for most of her career.  She also catered food for family events.

Her love of music began at an early age, and she began playing piano at the age of twelve.  She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Jonas Ridge where she was an accomplished pianist for many years.

She loved her family and got so much pleasure from their family reunions.  Family was extremely important to her, and her love and kindness will be missed.  Her memory will be forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Surviving are three daughters:  Robin Shepard of Jonas Ridge, Janyce Satterfield (Kimberly) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Jacqueline Monroe (Bill) of Lakeland, Florida; her son, Alan Lay of Arizona; eleven grandchildren:  Kalynn Harris (Johnathan), Kelli Thurner (Chad), Greg Freeman, Mike Freeman, Jacinda Scott (David), Aaron McNabb (Katie), Kimberly Fisher (Arthur), Alex Monroe (Anahi), Megan Widby (Jaxom), Tyler Lay and Cody Lay (Allie); sixteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda Shaw of Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  Pastor Caleb Forbes will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Riddle-Deyton Cemetery.
