Randall “Peach” Dean Mitchell, age 62, of Burnsville, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 21st, 2025 at Mission Hospital.
A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Britton Lee and Wilma Hope Blevins Mitchell. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents and a sister, Lila Higgins.
Randall had been retired for 7 years after a 30-year career with the Yancey County Department of Transportation. He and his wife, Helen, loved going to yard sales. They also enjoyed time together with friends, sitting on their porch talking. His greatest love, however, was for his family, especially his wife, daughter and two grandkids.
Surviving is his loving wife of 39 years, Helen Farrell Mitchell; daughter, Ashley Zartman (Matt) of Burnsville; two grandkids: Axle and Jordie Zartman; 5 brothers: Gilbert Blevins (Brenda) of Newdale, Michael Mitchell (Kim) of Burnsville, Robert Mitchell (Renata) of Burnsville, Billy Mitchell of Burnsville, and Darrell Mitchell (Angie) of Burnsville; and a sister, Donna Chaney (Gary) of Bakersville. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends survive him as well.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Pastor Bobby Silvers and Pastor Roger Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matt, Brandon, Caden, Nick, Dustin and Adam Mitchell. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
