Shirley Marie Silvers, age 80, went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, at her home. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Noah and Ruby Riddle Robinson. She was preceded in death by three siblings: Pansy Silvers, Lillian “Hazel” Franklin, and William “Clyde” Robinson.
Shirley’s life revolved around her family. Her husband, Earl, was the love of her life, and she always had open arms to all her family. She was known as “Mum-Mum” to them, and for several generations, she babysat and cared for them all. They all had a great sense of humor, and her family loved to joke with and pull pranks on her, scaring her anytime they had a chance. She loved her kittens so much, she named each one after a family member. She enjoyed cooking and canning, and was known for her purple passion Jell-O dessert. Her family will cherish all the times spent in the kitchen and around the table with her, and will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
She is survived by the love of her life of 57 years, Earl Lee Silvers; two daughters: Karen McKinney (Allan) and Sharon Sullivan (John), all of Green Mountain; four grandchildren: Leah Edwards (Evan), Katrina McIntosh (Kyle), Levi McKinney (Mackenzie) and Kaitlyn Crane (Justin); step-granddaughter, Shelby Scroggins (Isaac); six great-grandchildren: Brantyn, Silas, Hoyer, Lawson, Emmett and Kolly June; two step, great-grandchildren: Myles and Sadie Scroggins of Albertville, AL; sister and best friend: Cassie “Opal” Robinson of Green Mountain; four brothers: Dewey Robinson of Greeneville, TN, Warren Robinson (Donna) of Burnsville, Ernest “Lesley” Robinson (Terry) of Mars Hill, and Edward “Eddie” Robinson (Judy) of Burnsville; special niece, Frances Silvers of Green Mountain; two sisters-in-law: Julia Robinson of Burnsville and Jacqueline Silvers of Eden, NC. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Bro. Junior Hollifield will officiate. Burial will follow in the Andrew Silvers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Robinson, Kyle McIntosh, Evan Edwards, Levi McKinney, Justin Crane, and Brantyn Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Silas, Lawson, Emmett and Hoyer. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
