Ferrell Nanney, age 75, went Home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 24th, 2025. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late James Edward and Marie Davis Nanney. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Nanney, and a sister, Opal Ballew.
Ferrell enjoyed fishing and going swimming, as well as listening to country music. He loved hot rods and had a great talent for working on and restoring cars, as well as being a painter.
Surviving are four daughters: Sharon Nanney (Joey Prewitt), Sherry Nanney (Rick Saunders), Marlene Taylor (David), and Darlene Buchanan (Robert); four brothers: Terrell Nanney (Cindy), Darrell Nanney, Ray Nanney, and Ralph Nanney (Nancy); three sisters: Dana Murphy (“Little Boy”), Carolyn Byrd (Brownie), Marilyn Nanney, and Lola McKinney; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 31st, in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.
