Neil Hughes, age 48, of Deer Park Lake Road in Spruce Pine, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 27, 2025 after a courageous battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Born on February 4, 1977 in Buncombe County, he was the son of Connie Randolph and Robert Hughes (Diana). He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wade and Bernice Randolph.
Neil attended Grassy Creek Baptist Church. He was totally devoted to his mother and wife and spent his life focused on his son, Eli and daughter, Hannah. He loved sports and was particularly interested in basketball and football. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, Boston Celtics and U.N.C. Tar Heels.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife; Goldie Hollifield Hughes of the home, his son, Eli Hughes of the home, his daughter; Hannah Hughes of the home, , his uncles; Reggie, Russell, Rusty, and R.B. Randolph, special cousins; Marsha’ Gardner and Brian Randolph and his brothers; Shane Hughes and girlfriend, Brittany and Adam Hughes and wife, Heather.
A time to share memories, support the family and receive friends will be on Sunday, March, 30 2025 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The memorial service honoring the life of Neil Hughes will be on Sunday, March 30 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Clayton McKinney officiating.
The family would like to extend a ‘Thank You’ to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge and to their church family at Grassy Creek Baptist Church for their care and concern during Neil’s illness.
