On March 26-29, 13 students from Mitchell High School’s HOSA (Future Health Professionals Student Organization) traveled to Greensboro to compete and engage in leadership opportunities at the NC HOSA State Leadership Conference.  Students participated in Competitive Events, Amanatage Tournament, Health Career Expo, Educational Symposia, and a HOSA “Goosechase.”  Students also participated in side competitions winning ribbons for performing as top competitors for their life-saving skills. Students networked and competed against approximately 3,500 students in events, including:

Creative Problem Solving (4th Place Testing – Final Round Advancement, Top 10 Placement): Alex Gabriel-Barrera, Cindy Ramirez-Zepeda, Reynaldo Silva-Santiago, and Vanesa Campos-Mendoza

Creative Problem Solving: Brianna Serao, Ella Appling Tipton, Erandi Reyes-Pahuamba, Mayra Nino-Herrera, and Marisol DeLuna-Gomez

Dental Science (Top 10 Testing – Final Round Advancement): Sophia Morgan

Health Education: Liana MacPhee, Rue Rambo-Mohr, and Shayla Barajas

This is a major accomplishment after students were unable to compete in-person regionally and faced several preparation setbacks due to Hurricane Helene. Advisor, Mrs. Katy Grindstaff and CTE Director, Eric Buchanan, as well as the staff and student body of Mitchell County Schools would like to offer congratulations to all 13 students!
