Ted G. Bailey, age 83 of Mars Hill, NC, passed away on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, at Mission Hospital after a brief illness.
He was a loving Pap and Pappaw “B”. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the son of the late Fred Bailey and Lottie English Bailey. He is preceded in death by his brothers: Grady, Riley, Farris, and Junior; and sisters: JB Wallin and Ruth Bailey.
He is survived by two daughters, Helen (Brian) Freeman, and Diana Carter Santangelo; five grandchildren: McKenzie and Morgan Freeman, Mary Jo and Bailee Carter, and Nathanial Bailey; brothers: Paul, Joe, Zack (Jane), and Bennie; sister, Cholia of Shelby; along with several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Ted was born and raised in the Upper Laurel Community and gave his Life to the Lord in 1965. He was known for his grading and septic business, Bailey Earth Moving. His favorite meals consisted of ramps, branch lettuce, rainbow trout, cornbread and fried potatoes. He was also known for delivering deep-fried turkeys to friends and family around the holidays. He loved to mechanic, wood work, plow his neighbor’s gardens in the spring, and dig potatoes in the fall. He was always there to lend a hand to whoever needed it. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will begin on Saturday, April 5, 2025, with the family receiving friends and loved ones from 11-12 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church (3700 Puncheon Fork Road, Mars Hill, NC) with the service to follow. Interment will be held after funeral services in the Upper English Cemetery on Smith Creek Road.
Pastor Kermit Ball and Pastor Hayes Carver will be officiating.
The pallbearers will be as follows: Nathanial Bailey, Colton Sprinkles, David and Mark Phillips, Scotty English, and Chris Carter.
The family would like to give special thanks to Beverly Jarvis for the beautiful flowers provided, and also much appreciation to the Sprinkles’ family for the spiritual music and song.
