Charles Edward Hughes

Charles Edward Hughes, age 76, of the Pensacola Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 5th, 2025, after a brief illness.  A native of Davidson County, he was a son of the late Charles and Mable Vaughner Hughes.  He was preceded in death as well by his loving wife of 39 years, Donna Allen Hughes; and his brothers and sister:  Robert, Carlie, Ruben and Mary Hughes.

Charles was an avid catfisherman, as well as a turkey and deer hunter.  He enjoyed going to the woods and digging ginseng.  He was a trader by nature, trading on any and everything.  He loved music and playing his guitar alongside his grandson who played as well.

Surviving are a son, Charles “Ferby” Hughes and wife, Janna, of Pensacola; daughter, Michelle “Worm” Hensley and husband, Brian, of Fox Creek; his beloved grandson, Bryson Hensley; sister-in-law, Linda Allen of Pensacola; three brothers-in-law:  David Allen of Asheville, Randy Allen and Ricky “Cheese” Allen of Pensacola; and his dog, Itsy.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 12th at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Service.  Preachers Austin Wilson and Nic Coates will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.  Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13th in the Clendell Allen Cemetery on Pensacola.
