Carolyn Mitchell Glenn

Carolyn Mitchell Glenn, our loving mother, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 5, 2025.

She was born on May 27, 1942 in Mitchell County. She was the daughter of the late Bert and Tiny Mitchell. Mom was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Stamey and Janice Silver.

Mom married our dad, Hugh Glenn, right out of high school and remained married for 55 years until his passing in 2015, but she never stopped loving him. God came first in her life and was always prioritized in her home. She raised three sons, Tony, Tom and Tim. She made sure they knew about Jesus and took us to church. She loved her family and always took great care of us. She was a wonderful cook and loved to feed our Dad, her boys and all of our friends. She was always involved in our schooling and sports, making sure we got to practices and games. She always made sure we had good clothes and anything else we needed.

As all of us boys grew up into men and started our own families, Mom found a new love; her grandchildren. First came what seemed to an endless string of granddaughters. My cousin Kim had Andrea and Kacey, then Tom had Lauren, Taylor and Rachel. All of them knew her as “Grandmother”. She was so proud of the girls.

Her favorite thing became spending time with and spoiling these girls. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them and they were all she thought about. She loved shopping with them, throwing parties, and doing all of the things that she didn’t get to do with three sons. She was truly happy just spending time with them. Then later came Samuel Hugh Glenn, her only grandson, and she was just as proud of him. Mom also got to see and love five great grandchildren; Henry, Emmett, Tate, Jack, and Eleanor and would love to know that there is another one on the way.

Her family was the focus of her life but she also managed to work several different jobs over the years. Office work like bookkeeping and accounting and then taking care of people, especially our Father during his illness. Never leaving his side until the end.

When mom got to where she needed help, God sent us great people to help take care of her needs. Her niece Kim Thomas was very special to mom and was always there when Mom needed her. Also, Susan Potter stayed with Mom and cared for her with love and respect that was unequaled. I don’t know how we could have made it without her. Also, Victoria Woody and Sylvia Wright cared for Mom and we are so grateful for them.

Mom will be missed but we know we will see her again soon.

We love you Mom.
