Danny Keith Jarrett, age 60, of Hamburg Road in Bakersville, NC passed away May 5th, 2025 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
He was the son of Patsy Stamey Jarrett and the late Phillip Jarrett. He worked in the mines as a heavy equipment operator at Sibelco for thirty-nine years. He was a charter member and deacon at Mitchell Baptist Church.
Danny was a devoted husband, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend. He found joy in fishing, riding his motorcycle, and most of all, sharing time with his beloved wife and cherished grandchildren. Danny had a storied career with the Mitchell Mountaineer football program. He was the first player in the history of Mountaineer football to gain 1,000 yards rushing in a season. He further was the first to gain more than 1,000 in two consecutive seasons and for his career he gained over 2,000 yards rushing.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife; Laura Jarrett of forty-one years, his son; Jake Jarrett and wife, Brittany of Bakersville, NC, his daughter, Anna Sutton and husband, Matthew of Old Fort, NC, his brother, David Jarrett and wife, Lesia of Gray, TN; and his five beloved grandchildren; Zayn, Vida, Cora, Abigail, and Lucy.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 9th, 2025 at Freedom Baptist Church at 5:30 pm with Blake Glenn officiating. Private graveside services and interment will be in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
