Wanda McCoury Ledford, age 85, of Green Young Cemetery Road in Bakersville, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at The Green’s of Spruce Pine.
Born on June 27, 1939 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Zellian and Myrtle Stevenson McCoury. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Ledford, Sr who passed away in 2013 and her son, Darrell ‘Scooter’ Ledford. Jr.
Wanda was a member of the McKinney Cove Baptist Church. She was the manager of the Bakersville Motel and Restaurant for eighteen years and had also been a teacher’s assistant for twenty years. She loved all animals; but, was particularly fond of dogs, cats and feeding birds.
Left to cherish her memories are her sisters; Judy Dellinger and Pat Phillips both of Bakersville, her brother; Dickie McCoury and wife, Susan of Plumtree and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Wanda Ledford will be on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 6:30 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Ayers and the Rev. Don Ford officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, May 12, 2025 from 5:30 until 6:30 in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services and interment will be Tuesday, May 13. 2025 at 11:00AM in the Wilson Cemetery.
