Alicia Rene  Gunter

Alicia Rene  Gunter, 34, of Burnsville and a native of Yancey County, gained her Heavenly wings on Sunday, May 11th, 2025.  Alicia was preceded in death by several grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Left to cherish Alicia’s memory are her daughter, Raeleigh Shae Gunter; mother, Stephanie Austin (Bill); father, Edward Gurley (Leighann); brother, Austin Gurley (Chelsea); special nephew, Tr  Dean; sister, Tia Garland (Justin); nephews:  Walton and Ellis; brother, Nate Austin (Crystal); nieces:  Lakyn and Ella; nephew, Oaklee; grandparents, Albert and Georgia Bradford, and Larry and Sabra Robinson; extended family, Jim and Pat Gains; and special aunt, Jean Gunter.  She is also survived by many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Alicia loved her Lord Jesus Christ.  She enjoyed going to the rodeo, riding horses, and being on the wagon train.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her daughter, going to the lake, and riding around.  She also enjoyed listening to 90’s country music and going to concerts.  Quality time with Raeleigh meant everything to Alicia.

Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 18th at Prices Creek Union Baptist Church where Alicia attended.  Rev. Rick Bennett will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Wade Austin Cemetery on Sam Robertson Road.  Pallbearers will be Bill Austin, Austin Gurley, Edward Gurley, Justin Garland, Albert Bradford and Dennis Higgins.  The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the family or to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
