Burn Ban Lifted in Mitchell County; Permit Necessary

mitchell-county_color-4

Fire Marshal Andrew Brewer has announced that the burn ban Mitchell County has had in place since Helene struck in September has been lifted. While the ban is gone, Mitchell County reminds residents that the possibility of wildfire is still high in the region due to all the downed trees from the storm. You still have to have a burning permit from the Forest Service to do outdoor burning. Take extra care when burning brush and other items and have the means to keep blazes under control (water, sand, etc.) where you are burning. Consult the Building and Fire Inspections page on the Mitchell County Government website for tips on making your home fire-resistant.
