Ike Frye

Ike Frye, age 83, of the Seven Mile Ridge Community, was called Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25th, 2025, at The Greens at Spruce Pine, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Robert “Rob” and Carrie Davis Frye. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Tommy Frye and Leon Frye; two sisters: Shirley Frye and Doris McKinney.

Ike was a member at Fairview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon there since 1985. He also served as a Sunday school teacher and sung in a quartet. He enjoyed working with and being business partners with his son Brian from 1992 until 2022. Ike dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Jewell Huskins Frye; one son,  Brian Frye (Gwen), of Green Mountain; one daughter, Melissa Cipriano (Chad) of Denver, NC; grandchildren: Brittany Thomason (Brandon) of Green Mountain, Bradley Frye (Mariah) of Seven Mile Ridge, Eli Cipriano and Kendall Cipriano; five great-grandchildren: Korbin Thomason, Adley Thomason, Mailey Thomason, Weston Thomason, Hazelyn Frye and one on the way; sister: Irene Frye of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Lois Frye of Spruce Pine. Numerous nieces and nephews, and other extended family survive as well.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 30th, in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Pastor Brandon Thomason and Pastor Jeff Fox will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to the funeral services. Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 31st, in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery on Seven Mile Ridge.
