Gwendolyn Carol Adkins Wilson, age 73 of the Big Creek Community of Green Mountain, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, at the Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN.
Born on December 1, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Lark and Jewel Edwards Adkins.
Gwendolyn was a devoted Christian woman and a member of Big Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
She enjoyed playing the piano for the congregation and choir for over 50 years. She had an eye for photography, enjoyed sharing pictures and time with family and friends, and loved to travel. More than anything, she loved the Lord. Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ricky Wilson; daughter, Melissa (Jamie) Miller; brother, Victor (Connie) Adkins; brother-in-law, Roger (Denise) Wilson; grandchildren: Alison (Rome) Robinson, and Adam (Bailey) Miller; great-grandchildren: Barrett Robinson, and Aiden Miller; and uncle, Alden (Norma) Edwards; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will begin with a visitation on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home in Burnsville, NC. The funeral service will be held the following day at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Big Creek Freewill Baptist Church in Green Mountain, NC. Reverend Todd Robinson will be officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Wilson Family Cemetery in Green Mountain, NC.
