Ramona Lynn “Mona” Austin, age 54, went Home to be reunited with her loving mom, whom she missed dearly, and Jesus on Sunday, June 1st, 2025, after a courageous battle with liver disease. She was the beloved daughter of Willie Austin and the late Linda Kay Elkins Austin who passed away in 1999. She is also preceded in death by her grandparents.
Ramona was a devoted and cherished mother who lived her life with warmth and compassion. She had a smile that could brighten anyone’s day, a laugh that could fill a room, and a heart that welcomed everyone. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, whether she was sharing a meal, laughter, or quiet moments with them. She also loved being outdoors and laying in the sun. Being with her daughter, son, and grandsons brought her the deepest joy, and she embraced her role as Mi-Maw with pride. She was always, and forever will be, Daddy’s little girl with whom she shared a lifelong bond. Nothing made her prouder than her family. Her greatest wish was always to be a light to others – and she was. In every season of her life, through every trial and triumph, she shone with grace, hope and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but she will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of love, courage, and faith that will never fade.
In addition to her devoted father, Willie, of Greeneville, Tennessee, she is survived by her children, Amity Brianna Carter and Austin Brian Carter, both of Weaverville; two adored grandsons, Gavin and Noah; and her brother, T.G. Austin of Asheville.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 7th at the Elkins Cemetery on Prices Creek where family and friends are invited to gather and remember the beautiful soul that she was. Rev. Logan Buchanan will officiate.
