Robert Stephen Richards

WHAT ABOUT BOB . . . Bobby to his family, “Squirrel” to his early childhood friends, just Bob to others.

Bobby was the 2nd oldest of six children born to David George (DG) and Margaret Frances Richards. He grew up in Pratt City, a rural community within Birmingham, Alabama. Bob lived in a neighborhood referred to as “Catholic Hill, surrounded by family on all sides, and across the street from his maternal grandparents, until he was 20. He attended St Catherine’s Catholic School grades 1-8; John Carroll High grades 9-12; and graduated from St Bernard College, Cullman, AL in 1971.

The summer after graduation Bobby married his college sweetheart, Susan Dubuc (from Detroit, MI); they were married for 53 years (proof that the war between the North and the South has ended).

Bob was a salesman in the food service industry for most of his professional life. His quiet wit, low-key demeanor, respect for others, and ability to form lasting relationships were his greatest business and personal strengths. He left an unforgettable impression on everyone he met.

Bobby is survived by his wife Susan, son Matthew, daughter Jennifer (Mark), grandsons Holton, Grayson and Nolan; brothers David (Patti) and Jack (Maureen) and sisters Jan (Jeff), Ann (Don), and Mary.

Bobby’s legacy will live on through the lives of those he loved, and those who loved him. He will be missed by all who knew him.
